# Proof of Human is now Chronatum

> Same team, same product, same mission. If you have the Mac app, there is one thing you need to do.

## Why the name changed

The product outgrew the name. It started by recording whether a human was involved. It now records how a track was made: recording and MIDI activity, track structure, source material, plugin and AI-tool use, collaborators, version changes, and the production timeline.

“Proof of Human” described a subset of that, and it made people read us as an AI detector. We are not one. Chronatum is what the product actually is.

The human-contribution evidence is still there. It is now the Human Contribution module inside a bigger record.

## If you have the Mac app, reinstall it once

Chronatum is a new app with a new identity, so Proof of Human will not auto-update to it. Waiting will not bring you Chronatum.

1. **Install Chronatum and open it once.** Opening it is what moves your library across. Do not skip it. [Download for Mac](/download)
2. **Then remove Proof of Human.** Once Chronatum has opened, the old app is safe to remove however you like.

**Why that order.** Opening Chronatum once is what migrates your proof library and your settings. If you remove Proof of Human first with an uninstaller utility, that tool can delete the application-support folder the migration reads, and your library goes with it. Dragging the old app to the Trash does not remove that folder — uninstaller utilities are the risk.

In that order, your proofs, settings and consent choices all carry over.

## What has not changed

- **How it works.** Same capture, same proofs, same verification. The app records the same activity in the same DAWs, and the verifier reads the same files.
- **Proofs you have already issued.** They verify exactly as before — the signing key did not change. Their signed statement carries the former name; that is the historical record, not a failure.
- **Links you have shared.** Share links keep working. Old proofofhuman.fm addresses redirect to chronatum.com.

## The API is unchanged

api.proofofhuman.fm keeps working. api.chronatum.com is the new name for the same thing: same keys, same endpoints, same request and response shapes. No integration needs to change. Nothing is being switched off, and no retirement date has been set.
